Oil Pastel Graphite & Charcoal

What can I say about the human form as subject? It is endlessly fascinating, beautiful, ugly, old, young, funny, sad, sexy, grotesque, expressive, boring, poignant and profound ~ a never ending source of revelation for narcissistic beings like ourselves. During the course of my career I have enjoyed exploring many of these aspects of the human figure. It is rich as both a form and because it is a subject loaded with associations for virtually everyone.

In some of my work I have explored various human relationships and issues of aging inspired by the complex lives, wisdom and friendship of the many terrific older people I know. Some of my work highlights this unappreciated part of our youth-obsessed culture. Other work is inspired by relationships with my family and friends.
